Annecy in 1 day – My morning itinerary
It is from the Quai de la Tournette that my little circuit starts. a first overview of Lake Annecy with the beautiful brightness of the morning.
You will go up Rue des Marquisats then to the left, you will follow the Quai Perrière to reach the Palais de l’Ile (see picture below). You will discover an old building from the XIIᵉ century that proudly stands on an islet formed by the Thiou. This district is picturesque and very photogenic. It is one of the most photographed places in Annecy.
Then you will turn and join the Rue de l’Ile to take the rue de la Rampe du Château. You will arrive at the Castle of Annecy.
After visiting this place, you will have to return to Rue de l’Ile and take the passage of the Ile on the right. From there you can walk through the old town of Annecy, passing by the rue Sainte-Claire, the passage des Clerc, the rue de la Gare and finally follow the promenade du Saint Sépulcre which runs along the Thiou river.
You will be in the historic centre of Annecy where you can stroll along the small streets…
Then, you will have to cross the canal to take the Louis Lachenal promenade in the other direction, which is one of the highlights of Annecy.
It’s in this district that souvenir shops and small restaurants are concentrated. Moreover, if you are looking for a good pizzeria to take a quick break for lunch in your tour, I invite you to discover the site: pizzeria Annecy
Annecy in 1 day – My afternoon itinerary
To continue my Annecy city tour, you will have to reach the Church of Notre Dame de Liesse, which deserves a short visit.
The itinerary continues following the rue du lac and the Jules Philippe quays which will take you to the famous Pont des Amours.
Photo stop required because the view of the city, the canals and the lake is superb! Moreover, this place is very romantic….
Legend has it that if two lovers kiss each other in the middle of this bridge, they will be united for life!
Then you will enjoy a magnificent view of the lake by taking the Promenade Jacquet, which you will continue with the Promenade of Doctor Paul Louis Servettaz.
The next stop on this small walking tour will be the Imperial Palace with its majestic “Belle Epoque” facade and its enchanting setting between woods, lakes and mountains! If you don’t live there, you still have to visit it to admire its elegant architecture and magnificent park.
Then you will take the Avenue du petit port to reach the beautiful Albigny beach where you can rest and admire the sublime landscape… Many bars, snacks and restaurants will welcome you for an evening of relaxation or celebration! If you arrive early enough, you can also rent a pedal boat…
Visit Annecy in 1 day – Recommended hotels
If you want to experience a 4-star hotel ideally located on Lake Annecy, of course you will have to choose the Imperial Palace presented above. It is probably the best option if you want to spend more than one night there. This superb hotel is indeed perfect for a holiday.
But if you want to be in the heart of the old town of Annecy to enjoy only tourism and good restaurants, shops and entertainment, the ideal place to stay is the Ibis Centre Vieille Ville. It is a very well placed hotel, with parking, restaurant and a very good price-quality ratio (61 € per night).
