Paris in 1 day – Map of my route
Paris in 1 day – Stages of my itinerary
My visit of Paris starts with the most beautiful avenue in the world (forgive my chauvinism…) : the Avenue des Champs Elysées.
1 day in Paris tour – Eiffel Tower
Enjoy a 30-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. To get there from the Champs-Elysées, take the avenue Montaigne to the place de l’Alma. Then it will be necessary to follow the Seine river by the Avenue de New York until the Place de Varsovie. You will have to cross the pont de Iéna and you will arrive at the Eiffel Tower, emblem of Paris ! Inaugurated during the 1889 Universal Exhibition, at a height of 324 metres, the Eiffel Tower overhangs the banks of the Seine and the Champ-de-Mars.
1 day in Paris tour – Pont des arts
Now, sure it’s shame not to walk, but as this tour takes a long day of visits, I advise you to take the bus to go from Eiffel Tower to th Arts Bridge (the lovers Bridge of Paris). You have to go to the middle of the Champs de Mars at the bus stop Rapp – la Bourdonnais. Take the bus 69 in the direction of Gambetta Mairie du 20ème. Allow about 15 minutes and ask the driver (at 11èmestop) to stop at the Pont des Arts. After a few photos, take the quai de Conti and walk along the seine river until you reach the bridge Pont Neuf.1 day in Paris tour – Sainte Chapelle
Now you are on the “Ile de la Cité” and will be able to go in 10 minutes to the Sainte Chapelle which I advise you to enter to admire the magnificent and gigantic stained glass windows.
1 day in Paris tour – Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral
Then take the Quai du Marché Neuf to reach the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris in a 10-minute walk. Emblem of Gothic art, this magnificent Cathedral still stands proudly in the centre of Paris despite the flames it has withstood….
1 day in Paris tour – Louvre Museum
From Notre Dame de Paris walk 10 minutes to the Metro station Pont Marie by crossing the bridge Pont Saint Louis and the bridge Pont Louis Philippe. Take the Metro line 7 towards the metro station called 8 May 1945. Get off at the station Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre. It is one of the largest and most beautiful museums in the world (I remind you that I am French !!!), with the Mona Lisa, the Raft of the Medusa, the Venus de Milo and more others… But, there is no need to take tickets to visit the Museum. It is so huge that you will not have enough time to enjoy a quick visit. I advise you to take pictures of this magnificent Palace and then walk along the Quai des Tuileries to the Orangerie Museum (15 minutes).
1 day in Paris tour – Orangerie Museum
It’s one of my favorite museums in Paris because at the entrance the walls are beautifully painted by Claude Monet who created the superb frescoes of the Nymphéas.
1 day in Paris tour – Montmartre
To go to my favorite district of Paris on the Butte Montmartre and its picturesque little bistros, you will have to take a taxi or the metro. To get there by subway, it takes about 30 minutes. From the Orangery Museum, go to the Concorde Metro station (5 minutes) then take the metro 12 (Front Populaire line). It is a direct line that will take you to Abbesses station where you will have to get off.
Montmartre walking tour
From there, you can make a small tour on foot that will allow you to visit the most beautiful places of Montmartre: Located 50 meters from the Abbesses metro station, go through the Mur des Je t’aime and then head towards the Place du Tertre to admire the painter artists of Montmartre. From Place du Tertre, take the street rue Novrins and then rue Du Mont Cenis. You will turn into the rue du Chevalier de la Barre to reach the Basilic of Sacre Coeur. You can access it by the Funicular or by climbing the large stairs that lead to the Basilic.Dinner in Montmartre
Then, you will have the choice between a good dinner in Montmartre or a show dinner at the Moulin Rouge. If you choose the restaurant option, I recommend the restaurant le POULBOT which offers a wide selection of traditional beers and a carefully selected wine list. In this restaurant, you can taste typical French dishes in a very Parisian atmosphere! If you prefer the flan flanks of the French Cancan parisian girls, the famous cabaret of Montmartre le Moulin Rouge awaits you. Only 10 minutes walk from the Sacre Cœur, I recommend my favorite hotel in Paris: la Maison Lepic Montmartre (Rue Lepic). With its garden-terrace in the heart of Paris and its romantic atmosphere, it is a hotel of dream for a stay in Paris. Its rooms are comfortable, clean and very comfortable, well equipped and breakfast is hearty and delicious.
