Montmartre is a little place like a village with authentic charm in the north of Paris (18th arrondissement) on the hill of Montmartre (la butte Montmartre).
It is different from the other districts of Paris because of its atmosphere. The famous Sacre-Coeur basilica is located at the top of the hill and, there, you can have a magnificent view of Paris.
In Montmartre, I enjoy getting lost in its narrow streets to feel the cultural and artistic life and the sweetness of this neighborhood !
The famous Place du Tertre is one of my favorite places in Paris. It is animated and some caricaturists use to propose drawings, portraits of the tourists. It is funny and specific of this place. You can also visit the Espace Dali (a fantastic and undeservedly little-known collection of the great surrealist artist). You will find plenty to interest visitors: arty and trendy shop windows in rue des Abbesses and rue Tardieu, shops in rue Lepic, the cosmopolitan rue de Steinkerque, Montmartre cemetery, restaurants… (see on the map below).
Probably because it is picturesque and apart from the real Paris, Montmartre has always attracted bohemians, political radicals and artists. Picasso, Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec and other famous artists lived in Montmartre.
Do you know the movy “The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain” by the French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet ? This film was shot in Montmartre and shows beautiful places of Montmartre: coffee terraces, small streets, small shops… It makes feel the special atmosphere of this place (nostalgic, romantic, retro, vintage…).

Montmartre Paris restaurants – My favorites
You will not find a lot of restaurant adresses here below because when I love a restaurant, I always come back to the same…
Also, as I haven’t a lot of money, I just look at cheap restaurants. That is a big difficulty because more than being cheap the restaurant must offer French good cooking !
Restaurant Le Poulbot
It is located in the center of Montmartre and also near my 2 favorite hotels. Address is : 3 Rue Poulbot. Montmartre 750018 Paris
In this restaurant, I have never eaten the same menu. In fact, it is always renewed with the seasons and supplies. Furthermore, the POULBOT offers a wide selection of craft beers and a carefully selected wine list.
In this restaurant, you can enjoy very good french specialties for only 20 to 30 Euros.
Restaurant Le Moulin de la galette
It is located near my favorite hotel Maison Lepic Montmartre (in the same street). Address is : 83 Rue Lepic, 75018 Paris
I only ate once but I loved the setting, the traditional atmosphere, the typically French menu, the decor of the mill…

What is not good in Hotel Ibis Paris Montmartre ?
As in the majority of hotels in paris, rooms are small … but clean and confortable !
Maison Lepic Montmartre for his garden and terrace
What is good in Maison Lepic Montmartre ?
With the garden-terrace in the hearth of Paris, it is my favorite hotel in Montmartre !
Its romantic atmosphere : A few steps from the Sacre Cœur, Maison Lepic Montmartre is a dreamed hotel for a romantic stay in the heart of Paris ;
Cozy, clean, and very well equipped rooms ;
Big and rich breakfast buffet with fresh quality products and delicious pastries ;
What is not good in Maison Lepic Montmartre ?
The bathroom is too small.
