Thalassotherapy in Provence - French Riviera best hotel thalasso & spa in Medditerranean french coast

Thalassotherapy in Provence – French Riviera best hotel thalasso & spa

If this year you have finally decided to offer yourself a Thalassotherapy in the French Riviera, this post may interest you. It will not detail all the benefits of thalassotherapy for your health, nor all that brings well-being to your mind or morals… In reality, as with thermal waters, the advantages of seawater are confirmed and fully recognized.

No, however, I will answer in detail all the questions I asked myself before choosing a Thalassotherapy hotel in Provence Côte d’Azur:

What kind of “relaxation” stay should I choose in the French Riviera? What is the recommended duration of a Thalassotherapy cure? Which to choose: Thalasso Center or Thalasso Hotel on the Mediterranean coast? What are the quality guarantees of the Thalasso centers in Provence – Côte d’Azur? Which Thalasso hotel to choose on the French Riviera?

By answering these questions, I was able to identify the best Thalasso and Spa hotel of the French Riviera, more precisely the one that knows how to respond to my wishes, my expectations and, in particular, my quality criteria.

What kind of relaxing stay to choose in Provence – Côte d’Azur?

Thalassotherapy, balneotherapy, thermalism… All this is quite confusing! To choose the type of stay you really need or want, it’s best to start by understanding what it’s all about.

Do you need a thermalism treatment in the French Riviera?

These are stays near thermal springs with treatments based on mud and mineral water. These cures will be directed mainly to people with rheumatism, respiratory problems, dermatological problems… They are therapeutic treatments that will allow to treat diverse pathologies. These thermal cures are generally prescribed by a general doctor and take place in a thermal establishment during a period of 3 weeks to one month.

Do you need balneotherapy in the French Riviera?

Balneotherapy is the name given to all water-based treatments, regardless of the type of water: spring water, thermal water, fresh water, sea water. Therefore, a balneotherapy can be done anywhere, even at home in a bathtub “balneotherapy”. The benefits of balneotherapy (well-being and physical condition) do not result from the specific virtues of the water used, but only from the way in which the water is administered to the body: jet showers to stimulate blood circulation and tone the skin, hydromassage baths to relax and promote venous and lymphatic circulation, bubble baths to relax the muscles, etc….

Therefore, it is only the quality and the technicality of the equipment that will determine the quality of the balneotherapy. A balneo in Provence – Côte d’Azur can be practiced anywhere in the region of Provence and not only on the coast.

Do you need thalassotherapy on the French Riviera?

The thalassotherapy includes all the treatments practiced with all the substances of the marine environment: water, mud, seaweed…. A thalassotherapy in the French Riviera can thus combine the therapeutic properties of seawater with the benefits of balneotherapy. In addition, a thalassotherapy cure in the French Riviera can only be practised on the coast.

Thalassotherapy treatments, generally carried out by health professionals, may relieve back pain, fatigue, heavy legs, osteoarthritis, etc. But for most people, a thalassotherapy stay on the French Riviera is above all a stay that is pleasant, a stay that allows one to enjoy the pleasures of the beach, that relieves stress…. In fact, thalassotherapy only includes comfort treatments.

How long for a good thalasso in the French Riviera?

When I investigated the many thalassotherapy centres in the Riviera, I discovered that one or two days of thalassotherapy will only result in a pleasant stay of rest and relaxation.
In fact, for a good recovery and long-term effects, you should book a stay of at least six days with a minimum of four treatments per day.

Quality Guarantees for Thalassotherapy Centers on the Côte d’Azur

Faced with the offer of Thalassotherapy centers, which are now very important on the Mediterranean coast, it is difficult to know which are quality establishments able to offer professional and supervised care and whose hygiene will be unbeatable.

In fact, there is in France a National Professional Union of Thalassotherapy that has linked its forces with the International Federation of Thalassotherapy to form in 2008 the organization France Thalasso.

This institution ensures that the label “Thalassotherapy” and the fundamental values of Thalassotherapy are respected. For a Thalasso hotel, being accredited by France Thalasso is therefore an recognition of quality. In fact, to be included in the list of this organization, thalassotherapy centers must respect a quality charter based on the AFNOR XP X50-844 standard and must comply with the following commitments:

  • Site on the seaside in a very favourable environment
  • Use of natural sea water
  • Medical surveillance to ensure a serene cure
  • A team of qualified and attentive professionals
  • Ensuring optimal hygiene and safety
  • Facilities and equipment compliant and maintained

For this reason, for your next Thalassotherapy stay in the French Riviera, it is better to check that the center you have chosen is referenced by this entity.

This is what I did when I looked for the best Thalasso hotels and Spa of the French Riviera. I applied my usual selection criteria (attractive geographical location to combine a Thalassotherapy spa and tourism, comfort, cleanliness, good restaurant) and checked that they were well listed by France Thalasso. I can therefore guarantee that the hotel I will present below is a recognised, quality thalassotherapy centre.

Thalasso center or Thalasso hotel on the French Riviera?

Among the some thirty thalassotherapy centres that exist along the French Mediterranean coast, all of them offer different types of stays with variable and customisable themes and durations, ranging from a simple day to a stay of a week or more. For accommodation, you can choose to stay at the hotel of the thalassotherapy centre or anywhere else outside the centre. In the latter case, you do not opt for a thalassotherapy stay, but for a thalassotherapy cure alone.

The option of a hotel in the center or associated with the center is the ideal option, especially since most hotels offer attractive offers for this type of stay.
